A movie night in the park is coming to Barton Village! Unfortunately, the original date was rained out, and the new date is August 24! We hope to see you there for a magical night under the stars watching E.T.. Presented by Barton Village BIA, GALA and Hamilton Neighborhood Action Strategy, and Fresh Air Films.
Standing tall at seven storeys, with magnificent architecture and historical significance, the Westinghouse HQ building in Barton Village is a stand-out. Now, after 30 yrs of vacancy, the building is being revitalized, and transformed into Class-A office spaces! The team behind the renovation says, “The building represents much more than just another redevelopment project, but is a symbol of the renewed energy and vitality of Hamilton’s present and anticipated future.” They want to “carry on the tradition and story of Hamilton’s Westinghouse HQ for a new generation.” Read more on their recent blog about the building’s tradition and story here: bit.ly/2KnJwwK
What a wonderful makeover at Woodlands Park!! We want to say a huge thank you to the community members, our volunteers, the city of Hamilton, Ryan Ellis, and many more for making this happen! 😊
The makeover not only transformed an area we absolutely love, it was also simply so fun!
A new soccer pitch and a new play area were installed, and there was painting, cleaning, planting, and more done.
A team of dedicated individuals from the BIA have been doing a cigarette butt cleanup weekly, to raise awareness about the amount of butts that are littered onto Barton’s streets. We want to prevent litter, and make this area cleaner! It has been a very eye-opening exercise. Over approx 1300 meters, they collected 5,010 cigarettes.
Stay aware, and let’s each do our part to make Barton beautiful!

Indwell, an amazing organization that provides accessible and affordable housing to marginalized individuals, cares deeply about the community, and when they see a need, they fill it in impacting ways. They are renovating an unused building in the neighborhood (Royal Oak Dairy), and will be providing accessible housing to the area. We are so grateful that they are! One of the best attributes of Barton Village is our diverse community - everyone is welcomed, embracing each other and the unique ways of life represented! We are thankful that Indwell is supporting our community in such a tangible way.
