Why Barton Village?

Barton Village is Hamilton's next big thing! In 2011, the average sale price of a single family home within the closest reporting geographical reporting area to the Barton Village BIA was $117,672. In 2016, the average in the same area was $246,719, an increase of 110%. The next-closest area is the Ottawa Street BIA, at a 96% increase over the same period.

 Hamilton Health Sciences, who already have The General Hospital and the new Ron Joyce Children's Health Centre in Barton Village are "envisioning a new facility that is designed specifically for the needs of children and their families, and including women’s health services such as our high-risk obstetrics program. We see this new facility being located adjacent to the Hamilton General Hospital campus."

Those who are part of Barton Village Business Improvement Area are entitled to some AMAZING grants.

BIA COMMERCIAL PROPERTY IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM

Offered to property owners and authorized tenants of commercial properties located within Hamilton's active Business Improvement Areas (BIAs). this program offers matching grants for facade improvements, limited rehabilitation of interior space and assists in creating a barrier-free environment For properties that have a street frontage greater than 25', the grant is based on $400 per linear foot of frontage to a maximum of $20,000. The maximum matching grant for properties with a street frontage of 25' or less is $10,000. Corner properties or properties with at least one side exposed may be eligible for a matching grant of $25,000. Artfully designed facade improvements or art pieces placed on private property that can be viewed by the public, may be eligible for an additional $10,000 matching grant. 

BARTON/KENILWORTH COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR BUILDING IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROGRAM

This program provides a matching grant to a maximum of $50,000 per deeded property towards the redevelopment of the property as well as the maintenance, functionality, viability, accessibility and aesthetics of the existing building stock used for commercial, multi-residential and institutional uses.
